Training California’s physicians for the communities that need them most.
LatinX Physicians of California is launching a statewide Graduate Medical Education Consortium to strengthen California’s physician workforce, expand leadership pathways, and support care in underserved communities.
A statewide strategy for physician workforce equity.
The GME Consortium will bring together California family medicine residency leaders to address gaps between where physicians train, where physicians are most needed, and how prepared they are to lead in safety-net communities.
Initial focus
The consortium will begin with Family Medicine residency programs and expand to additional specialties over time.
Core priorities
The consortium focuses on shared curriculum, physician leadership, and long-term workforce pathways.
Population health curriculum
Develop a shared curriculum focused on population health, data use, and strategies to identify and address healthcare inequities.
Physician leadership
Support leadership development, executive presence, and readiness for practice in underserved settings.
Workforce pathways
Expand recruitment, mentorship, clinical rotations, and retention pathways in urban and rural underserved communities.
